In a recent notification, India’s Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has unveiled plans to setup two Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Parks of 25 GW each.
Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Parks
According the notification, MNRE plans to setup two Ultra Mega RE Parks at:
- Jaisalmer, Rajasthan – 25,000 MW
- Khavada, Gujarat – 25,000 MW
As per the letter, these ultra-mega parks have received the necessary clearances of the respective state governments and the Ministry of Defense and details of locations of these parks are available with designated joint secretary in MNRE. MNRE has also requested the Ministry of Power to strengthen the transmission infrastructure to these locations within two years for the evacuation of power from these parks.
The land will be made available to the developers for setting up of solar, wind, and solar wind hybrid projects at these locations.
